Asian Handicap

Basketball

A points spread that levels the contest by giving the underdog a virtual head start in points. Because it eliminates the draw and uses fractional spreads, it often turns an uneven matchup into a balanced two-way bet with the possibility of a push or half-win when the margin of victory matches the line exactly.

mechanics

  • Half-point lines (±0.5, ±1.5, ±2.5…): always produce a clean win or full loss — no push possible since point margins are whole numbers.
  • Level ball (0): if the game ends level at the buzzer (rare, essentially impossible in basketball due to overtime), stakes are returned. In practice, the -0 line acts as a Draw No Bet equivalent.
  • Home −5.5 points: the home team must win by 6 or more points. A 5-point win loses the bet.
  • Settlement uses the final official result including all overtime periods.
