Top / Place
Outrights
Back a selection to finish within the stated number of paid places (e.g. top 2, top 3, top 4). The number of places paid depends on the event size and is shown on the market. A lower-odds alternative to the Outright Winner, it gives you more margin for error while still requiring a competitive finish.
mechanics
- Your selection must finish within the paid places — e.g. for a "Top 3" market on a 12-runner field, finishing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd wins.
- The number of places paid is fixed at the time the market is offered and will be stated clearly on the bet.
- Field reduction: if the field drops below a minimum threshold, fewer places may be paid (e.g. a 4-place market may revert to 3 places).
- Dead-heat rules apply when multiple selections tie for the last qualifying place — winnings are divided proportionally.
